Does the edge need finishing?

Stainless steel and aluminium PA11 (cut with compressed air): yes, the edges show discolouration and burr. Mild steel (cut with oxygen): no burr, but it can show oxide scale, discolouration and, from 3 mm, spot marks from the teeth of the cutting grate. We do no further edge finishing - you get the part straight from the laser.

How thick can you cut?

The thickest is 4 mm. We only cut the thicknesses in the table above.

Laser cutting aluminium PA11 (aluminum) is available in a single thickness: 4 mm, grade EN AW-5754 (AlMg3), cut with compressed air. It is light and does not rust - a good choice for enclosures, handles and parts where weight matters. The edges show discolouration and burr after cutting, so they need extra finishing. It needs no painting or extra protection against corrosion.
