1.4301 / 2B (NBZ, X1X2) (3–4 mm).

Does the edge need finishing?

Stainless steel and aluminium PA11 (cut with compressed air): yes, the edges show discolouration and burr. Mild steel (cut with oxygen): no burr, but it can show oxide scale, discolouration and, from 3 mm, spot marks from the teeth of the cutting grate. We do no further edge finishing - you get the part straight from the laser.

How thick can you cut?

The thickest is 4 mm. We only cut the thicknesses in the table above.

Laser cutting stainless steel

Laser cutting stainless steel is available in grade 1.4301 (AISI 304) with a 2B finish, in 3 and 4 mm, cut with compressed air. It does not rust and needs no painting - it works well in kitchens, outdoors and in damp places. After cutting, the edges show discolouration and burr, so they need extra finishing.
